Getting involved in clubs, sports, work or other pursuits outside the classroom can give students new skills and help them enhance their talents in many ways.

Besides being fun and a great way to socialize with peers, extracurricular activities can enhance students' time management and stress management skills, thereby improving overall productivity. Students who are involved in team sports learn to work in groups. Their written and oral communication skills improve. These soft skills cross over into “real life”. Overall, students who participate in extracurricular activities are likely to experience an improvement in their academic and life skills, including discipline, goal-setting, accountability and responsibility.

In addition, extracurricular activities also play a part when you apply to universities. Most college applications ask about these activities, because the things you do in your free time reveal a lot about you - in ways that grades and test scores cannot. Your accomplishments outside the classroom indicate what you are passionate about and demonstrate that you have qualities valued by colleges.

The Colombo School of Arts and Sciences supports this notion and encourages its students to get, and stay, involved in extracurricular activities.

We offer a range of extracurricular activities that comprise of:
