The Colombo School of Arts and Sciences (CSA) will once again kick off its inspiring CSA Good Start Series that was launched two years ago. This is a series of free lectures, presentations and discussions held for the benefit of teenagers. These thought-provoking and inspirational one-hour sessions are held at the Colombo School of Arts Auditorium at No. 46, Jawatte Road, Colombo 5.

Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala and Johann Peries will share their thoughts and experiences on ‘Reaching the Summit’ on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 4 - 5 pm. On May 21, 2016, Ms. Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala became the very first Sri Lankan to summit Mt. Everest. Mr. Johann Peries made it to within 300 metres of the summit but had to turn back due to lack of oxygen.

The CSA Good Start Series, launched two years ago, has hosted a number of interesting speakers such as Udan Fernando, Mohamed Adamaly, and Malinda Seneviratne who have discussed their views on subjects that interest and inspire teenagers.

Principal of CSA, Ms. Shaleeka Jayalath, stated that by hosting sessions like the CSA Good Start Series, young students get the opportunity to discover new ideas beyond the curriculum. She says, “We invite teenagers to call and reserve a seat early. Reaching the summit of Mt. Everest is not a task for the faint-hearted. The climb is marked with all manner of challenges, and the final ascent takes sheer will-power and determination. The journey itself requires an extraordinary blend of teamwork, resilience, courage, and humility – qualities that students need to see them through life’s many challenges. Ms. Kuru-Utumpala and Mr. Peries are very much an inspiration for every student.”

Seating is limited, so teenagers who are interested are requested to call the School Office on weekdays on 0114383996 to reserve a FREE PASS.
